JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--- On Friday, friends and family came together to remember the life of a 6-year-old who drowned in a retention pond last week.
"Jamarion was so sweet, he was respectful, he loved his aunt, he loved his family," said Jamarion's aunt, Shenea Howell.
Last week, 6-year-old Jamarion Lee drowned. Now, neighbors are calling for change to happen so a tragedy like this won't happen again.
"We do feel that there should be a gate around the pond, so that this doesn't happen again."
Taffiena Bacon has lived on this street for decades. She says a fence is the only option to make sure kids are safe.
"I've seen them fishing, playing in the water and little kids like that, don't know how to swim, they don't know any better," said Bacon.
On Friday, the pond looks different from the day of the tragedy. Bacon says the city drained the water, but thinks more needs to be done.
"They have drained the water even more since this has happened and they have even cut the grass but the water is always high. If it is that fence that can protect the next child, then let it be that, to keep another child from losing his life," Howell said.
