Renderings released of possible new JEA headquarters

One of the options for the future site of JEA is Lot J, which would put the corporate headquarters next to TIAA Bank Field.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Where will the new JEA headquarters be located? We're getting a look into the future of the city-owned electric and water utility.

One of the options for the future site of JEA is Lot J, which would put the corporate headquarters next to TIAA Bank Field. In one of the bids provided by JEA, it says putting the city-owned utility in the $2.5 billion Jacksonville Shipyards development will be significant in shaping and propelling the renaissance of the city of Jacksonville.

Next on the list, the Downtown Plan. There are three possible site locations.

First, West Church and North Laura Streets, followed by Broad Street and West Church, and the third site at Adams and Pearl all near the Duval County Courthouse. In these plans, we can see what the inside of the new energy efficient building would possibly look like, from the main lobby to a training center.

The last location is on Kings Avenue on the Southbank and would make JEA highly visible to those driving along Interstate 95. The information in the bid says 155,000 cars pass this area each day and would make the new headquarters one of the most visible landmarks in the city.

The JEA board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 5, to hear presentations and receive public comment. The board is scheduled to make a final decision in April.
