In continuing their effort to make it easier for St. Johns County citizens to get ahold of them, the sheriff's office now lets residents text their non-emergency number as well.
Back in December the law enforcement agency announced you could text 911 with the slogan 'Call if you Can, Text if you Can't!'
It's easier than ever to get in touch with administrative side of the sheriff's office. All you need to do is text the sheriff's office phone number - 9048248304. Send a message - but don't text and drive or use text slang.
While texting 911 is quick - it goes directly an operator - texting the administrative number is first routed through an application and may take some time.
A release from the sheriff's office encourages residents to still either call or text 911 for an emergency, but if you need to get in touch with law enforcement for another reason, can't call, or are hearing or speech impaired, text their administrative line.
