VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Navy helicopter made an emergency landing Wednesday morning in Volusia County.
NAS Jax has now confirmed that the helicopter belonged to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 70. The squadron departed from NAS Jax, which is their home base.
It happened east of State Road 11 and north of State Road 40, the Volusia Sheriff's Office said.
VSO said the chopper made a distress call about having transmission issues and was trying to land. Then they lost contact.
NAS Jax says they are investigating why this happened.
No one in the crew was injured.
