POLK COUNTY, Fla.—A sexual battery and kidnapping suspect from an incident in Gainesville over the weekend was caught by U.S. Marshals in Polk County Monday, authorities say.

Marshals tracked Christopher Gonzalez Cruz, 24, to relatives in Winter Haven and found him arriving on a motorcycle to a home in Eagle Point. That home was his brother's house, marshals say. Cruz left the house a short while later and got into the passenger seat of a vehicle.

As they tried to leave the neighborhood, four takedown vehicles blocked the road, marshals say. He was arrested there.

Cruz currently sits in Polk County Jail waiting to be extradited back to Alachua County.

He's accused of sexually battering and kidnapping a 19-year-old girl he met at a bar in Gainesville Saturday night. Cruz met the girl at the Grog House and then left the bar to make out in a vehicle - that's when he reportedly forced her to have sex against her will, police say.

Police reported that the woman became upset and yelled out.

Cruz fled the area and University of Florida police pulled him over, but then he fled on foot.
