TAMPA, Fla. — Floridians are seeing some of the lowest prices at the pump this year.

On Sunday, gas prices in the state averaged $3.15 per gallon, which AAA said is the lowest daily average price since February. It's also 47 cents less than this time last year.

For comparison, the highest gas price so far this year was $3.64 per gallon, according to AAA. The all-time high was $4.89 per gallon in June 2022.

The cost of producing gasoline decreases depending on the U.S. price for a barrel of oil, which AAA said fell to the lowest level last week since June 2023.

Domestic oil prices settled at $67.67 per barrel on Friday, the company said. Just last month, oil prices had been trading at more than $80 per gallon.

"Unless oil prices reverse course, gas prices should move even lower," AAA auto club spokesman Mark Jenkins said. "Currently, about 23% of Florida retailers have prices below $3 a gallon. That number is likely to grow this week."

According to AAA, the least expensive markets in Florida are Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($2.88), Pensacola ($2.95) and Panama City ($2.95).

The most expensive markets are West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.35), Naples ($3.33) and Gainesville ($3.29).
