JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Ken Jefferson, a 24-year veteran with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, will be joining First Coast News as a crime and safety expert.

Jefferson, now retired from the force, has served as a sex crimes detective, field training officer, and public information officer with JSO. He is an expert crime analyst who has worked with other local media.

“I am very pleased to be joining the First Coast News family as their crime and safety expert. I look forward to bringing my years of experience with law enforcement and safety issues to the citizens of Jacksonville," said Jefferson, who is Jacksonville-born and raised.

Jefferson hopes he can help the station's audience in his new role.

“My objective is to provide the viewers with a broad perspective on being safe and how not to become a victim of a crime, all while providing unbiased information as to current crime trends and events happening on our First Coast," he said.
