JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — More than 50,000 voters have already cast their early vote in Duval County.
For anyone who hasn’t made it to the polls yet, they may see a change in the process.
First Coast News had a viewer reach out with an issue with the new express vote machines.
He felt the machine changed his vote if he hovered his finger too close to the answer choice when he was going back over them.
First Coast News took the issue to the supervisor of elections, who said hovering shouldn’t do that, but he doesn’t want any voters feeling uncomfortable, so he has a plan.
He pointed out that while they’ve used the express vote machines for a few years now, this is the first presidential election, so it may be the first time for many folks.
He’s supplying styluses to every express vote machine in the county.
They should be there by Saturday, Duval County Election Supervisor Jerry Holland said Wednesday.
“So often on an iPad or phone, using your finger is not always the best way," Holland said. "People have long nails or the temperature of their hand, so we’re going to install stylus in all the machines this week, and we think that will help in the process of voters making their selection.”
You also have the option to do a manual ballot with a pen, however, because it’ll need to be printed on the spot, Holland warns it does take a bit longer.
