How does Duval County vote in presidential elections?

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — Despite Donald Trump winning Florida in the 2020 General Election, Duval County voted blue as Democrat Joe Biden captured nearly 19,000 more votes than Republican Trump. 

The 2020 election was the first time Duval County cast more votes for a Democratic presidential candidate since Jimmy Carter in 1976, according to the Florida Times-Union.

As of Oct. 28, there are 651,823 registered voters in Duval County. There are 248,130 registered Democrats and 237,231 Republicans. The rest are non party affiliated or "other." 

In 2016, Trump captured about 6,000 more votes in Duval than Hilary Clinton. In 2012, Mitt Romney won Duval County by about 15,000 votes.
