Duval County will be a swing county going into upcoming election

There are only 10,000 more registered Democrats in Jacksonville than Republicans, ensuring a tight race.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After President Joe Biden ended his bid for reelection, Duval County Election Supervisor Jerry Holland says the elections office has seen high traffic of people coming to register to vote, with 125 people changing their party since Sunday.

With Democrats only having 10,000 more registered voters than Republicans, it's set to be a tight race, especially in swing counties like Duval.

“We’re about as purple as it comes," said Duval County Election Supervisor Jerry Holland.

" I think people are energized. I think it’s definitely going to help the voter turnout come November... I think that is what the Democratic party wanted and it energizes their base," he said about Biden dropping out.

Holland would go on to say the same about the attempted assassination attempt on Donald Trump also caused people to change parties.

Holland says anyone who is energized to vote should take advantage of voting by mail, "which is very secure," or go to vote early.
