JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — You can't fly without supply — it's more than a motto for one specific squadron at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, it's the foundation of how they operate.
In this week's Stories of Service, First Coast News meets a sailor who makes it her mission to ensure her team is always supplied.
"My primary job is procuring anything and everything the squadron needs," said Logistics Specialist Trinity McMichael.
Long before plans are gearing up for takeoff, McMichael is hard at work supporting her squadron at VP 30.
"I like to think we're the first line of defense," said McMichael. "You need a pencil, we got it, you need an APU, we got it, you need fuel for whatever reason, we can get it."
McMichael has spent eight years in the Navy and developed a passion for service from her family. Two of her aunts are Navy veterans, her Nonni served in the Army, and she said her parents were heroes at home.
"They instilled a big mindset of a good work ethic and hard work pays off," said McMichael.
That hard work now supports hundreds of people.
"I also procure items for the 17 aircrafts that we have," said McMichael. "A lot of it is just me taking care of my shipmates because when you're here, you're family."
McMichael is originally from Heflin, Ala., and said her plan is to serve in the Navy for at least 20 years.
"I love the Navy. I love everything that I do. If it's something that you love, it's not a job, it's a hobby and I love it," said McMichael. "The Navy's like a bowl of Fruit Loops in my opinion, all different colors, all different flavors."
Trinity McMichael said that the Navy has felt more caring and welcoming over the eight years that she's served, which is why she hopes to make it her career.
