JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Right now, there is something new you'll notice right outside the doors of VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville.
A new memorial that was unveiled Friday, is dedicated to our fallen military heroes and sits to the right of the doors. This is the 18th memorial Gold Star father Dave Seamans with Florida Fallen Heroes says they've been able to put up, as it is the first one that isn't at a school.
Seamans says thousands of people will see it as they enter the arena for events and they'll remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.
"It's about those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and the gold star families, our veterans," Seamans told First Coast News. "That's what it's about. It gives me great honor to be able to stand here and carry that message forward."
Seamans says there are plans for a 19th memorial to be unveiled at Andrew Jackson High School in 2024.
