Isaiah Thomas not suspended, given flagrant 1 foul for hit on Schröder

Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas has been given a flagrant 1 foul by the league for illegal contact to the head of Atlanta Hawks point guard Dennis Schröder in Game 3 of the first-round series between the two teams on Friday night.

The incident occurred late in the first quarter when Thomas swiped at Schröder's head. No foul was called at the time, but the league reviewed the incident, and determined that a suspension was not in order, and the Celtics All-Star point guard will be available for Game 4 in Boston on Sunday.

The Celtics went on to win the game 111-103 behind a carer-high 42 points from Thomas to narrow the Hawks' series lead to 2-1. After the game, Thomas claimed that the incident was unintentional.

"I didn't mean to hit him in the head," Thomas said in the postgame press conference. "He got mad, he was talking, but it's playoff basketball. That's what it's about. I'm not gonna back down from anybody, and he knows that."
