'I feel stuck': Jacksonville mom with breast, brain cancer looking for used van to transport children

Julia Peterson chokes up when she talks about her children. Fighting stage 4 cancer, she is hoping to get just one thing.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — She is asking for just one thing. Maybe you're the one to find it for her.

She was given two years to live and she's hanging on with all her spirit months beyond that. The medical bills are sky-high.

Now she needs some transportation. She says her latest blow was a car repossessed. Her biggest wish is that somebody would donate a used van for her. But, if not, she at least needs a ride for her kids to school and/or some sporting events. Her three children go to St. Matthews Catholic Church and School on Blanding Boulevard. The latest update is the school family is pouring out support. Julia's focus now is hoping someone can donate a used van so she can take her children to school activities and other appointments.

Julia says her family has always loved the St. Matthews community.

"I don't know when I'm going to pass," she says with one tear rolling down her cheek. She says her children keep her fighting.

Julia used to work with Guardian ad Litem and with women who were victims of domestic violence. She says it hurts her to have to ask for help because she was always self-sufficient.
