JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The latest talk around Jacksonville right now centers on an idea created by Mark Braddock - that's now come to life inside his clothing store in Springfield.
"As a local born and raised here in Jacksonville, the blood of Duval runs through me," he said.
Braddock, a fan of the movie Napoleon Dynamite and character Uncle Rico, found similar qualities between him and Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew.
Braddock ran with that idea and created a set of viral t-shirts, giving the city something to rally behind.
"It's very cool that Jacksonville actually has a trend now and everyone in the city is behind Gardner Minshew and the Jacksonville Jaguars," he told First Coast News.
Braddock also came up with the popular 904 Pop-Up community events where local small businesses promote and sell their products. He's relatively new to Springfield and is giving a portion of his proceeds to SPAR, a non-profit devoted to the preservation and revitalization of the neighborhood.
"I am so grateful to be able to donate money to a bigger picture," he said.
His designs even caught the attention of the mayor and his staff. Braddock was invited to Mayor Curry's office Friday afternoon.
Braddock says he's always thinking of the next big thing while focusing on creating something lasting for the city.
"It's basically igniting this fire and throwing more kerosene on the fire for the entire city," he said.
