The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a call of shots fired in the Durkeeville area Saturday morning.

When JSO arrived on the scene at 1343 W. 12th St. they found an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Police said the man is approximately 40 years old and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"When it's taped off you know it's something serious. It was taped off down the street yesterday, you're talking two days with two tape offs, it's getting crazy."

Samuel Ray Hall Jr. was driving down Myrtle Avenue and expressed his anger after another shooting in a neighborhood he grew up in.

"It's chaos."

Just around the corner from the shooting location is Families of Slain Children, Inc.

The organization is now praying for the victim.

"It's really scary, you know, my heart goes out to the family, the neighborhood...I know some people that live here and I'm just waiting to hear, was it who I think it was?" Beverly McClain with Families of Slain Children said.

The Northside Coalition saying after this latest shooting they want a city-wide ceasefire for the next three days.

"Stop the violence, increase the peace, cease-fire, and treat others like you want to be treated," Ben Frazier said.

The city is continuing to find a way to treat its gun violence problem.

Hall Jr. thinks its an internal problem that Jacksonville's citizens must unite together to fix.

"How can you relate to someone who doesn't live here and never lived here? They don't want to hear it...You gotta get people that these kids can relate to tell these kids to put it down."

At this time police have not released the identity of the victim and they do not have any suspects.
