The Green Cove Springs Police Department has arrested a suspect involved in a shooting in Green Cove Springs Tuesday night.
David Evans, 24, was arrested by Green Cove police at 4:41 a.m. Wednesday for a shooting Tuesday evening in the 1000 block of Center St. in Green Cove Springs.
The shooting put a victim in the Orange Park Medical Center having suffered two gun shot wounds, according to officials.
Police say the victim told police he was eating at 1050 Center St. when Evans entered the front of his property and began shooting at him.
The victim also told authorities that Evans had not been taking his medication, but could not think of any reason he may have shot at him.
At 3:26 a.m. Wednesday, the Clay County Sheriff's Office called Green Cove Springs PD, advising them the Evans had attempted to turn himself in the county jail.
He was transported to the Green Cove Springs police department where he was questioned and arrested for attempted murder, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm.
