TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A woman in Green Cove Springs is celebrating a major lottery prize after buying a $1 million scratch-off ticket from a local convenient store, a Florida Lottery spokesperson announced Friday.
58-year-old Dorothy Rendell claimed the $1 million prize in Tallahassee Friday, the Lottery spokesperson said, choosing to receive her winnings as a one-time lump-sum payment of $640,000.
Rendell purchased her ticket from the Green Cove Food Store at 201 North Orange Avenue in Green Cove Springs. That store got a $2,000 bonus from the Florida Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
Rendell is the second person from the First Coast in a week to win a $1 million lottery prize.
A St. Johns County man won the big prize Tuesday after buying a scratch-off ticket from a Publix in Jacksonville Beach.
The Lottery said both winners paid $50 for their winning tickets.
