WAYCROSS, Ga. — Days before Yungeen Ace and his entourage were reportedly ambushed in a deadly Waycross hotel shooting, the rapper released a music video that let enemies know he and his crew are out for blood.
Yungeen Ace (real name Keyanta Bullard) released the music video for his new song "Murder Rate Rising" on March 1, which has been viewed 1,253,925 times as of Monday. All together, Bullard's music videos have racked up more than 23 million views.
The video for "Murder Rate Rising" can be viewed below.
WARNING: The lyrics and images featured in the video can be offensive to viewers.
The video opens with Bullard watching a newscast detailing Jacksonville's rising murder rate. Later, Bullard and his posse are shown dancing on top of ambulances and roaming neighborhoods while making gun gestures with their hands.
With lyrics like "Murder rate risin', we gon' kill everybody" paired with images of men shot dead and bloody on the ground, the song and video positions Bullard and his friends as perpetrators of deadly violence.
But the roles were reversed 10 days later when the rapper and his group were reportedly ambushed upon returning to their hotel after performing at a concert in Waycross, according to Bullard's attorney.
At 3:30 a.m., police said they responded to the Hampton Inn at 1720 Brunswick Highway to reports of people being chased in the parking lot by people with guns.
A victim, Jeremy Alexander Brookins, 30, was found near the hotel's pool area with gunshot wounds to his body, police said. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
Police said another victim, Dewayne Lamont Scott, 29, was found in a room inside the hotel with gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital.
Three men from Jacksonville were arrested during an investigation into the shooting, police said.
Mark Isaac Jefferson, 26, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and marijuana possession.
Leroy Girard Whittaker, 18, was arrested and charged with a marijuana misdemeanor, reckless conduct and possession of a handgun without a license.
Devante Demorris Starks, 26, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and marijuana possession.
It is unclear if they were traveling with Bullard or if they are suspected of committing the ambush.
