YULEE, Fla. — A couple is getting help from the community after severe flooding has completely filled up their front and backyards.
“We were told the only thing we can do to save our house is to buy industrial pumps that start at five grand," said an emotional Skyler Swisher.
Swisher was raised in the house that now is facing this flood damage. Word got out after a Facebook post describing what Swisher was going through. He and his wife have five dogs and two cats, that have been trapped inside the last seven days from the flooding. The Yulee community has been helping the couple out.
“This community is pretty much an extended family, there’s so many people trying their best to look out for us," said Swisher.
Swisher says he is the last person left in his family, and with this house being his only memory of those who raised him, it means everything to him to save this house.
“This is the last thing I have, It’s all I have. We’re not wealthy by any means, but we have everything we have ever needed…now we’re just trying to protect it…trying to protect everything we’ve worked for," said Swisher.
