Killer of Jacksonville radio host interrupts impact statement by victim's mother

Police records show Tasheka Young's mother was the one to discover her unresponsive and bloody body the day she was murdered.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The man convicted of killing Jacksonville radio host and her unborn child interrupted his victim's mother's impact statement during his sentencing Thursday.

Olivia Young emotionally addressed the courtroom before Bursey Armstrong was sentenced to life in prison for killing Young's daughter and the mother of his children, Tasheka Young.

An arrest warrant states Olivia Young was the one to find Tasheka Young unresponsive and bloody while the victim's 1-year-old and 3-year-old children were inside the residence.

"I tragically lost my child on July 23, 2022, and now I raise my two grandchildren as my own," Young said. "Through the love and the grace of God..."

"You are full of it," Armstrong said, interrupting Young.

"I am also thankful to have the love and support of family, my church members, my friends and my neighbors," Young continued, but Armstrong interrupted again.

"There is no love in you," he said.

Judge Tatiana Salvador then called for order in the courtroom.

"Excuse me, we're going to do this in order... If you wish to address the court, I will absolutely give you your opportunity, but right now we are hearing from Ms. Young," Salvador said.

Armstrong declined to address the courtroom before his sentencing.
