ST JOHNS, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office addressed rumors of a "suspicious" van with puppies traveling around local parks over the weekend.

The sheriff's office released a statement on Facebook Tuesday afternoon saying the agency was aware of photographs circling social media of a "suspicious vehicle and person around local parks in Nocatee on Saturday."

Detectives investigated the incident and determined the van is used for deliveries around Ponte Vedra and Palm Valley areas, the sheriff's office said.

On Saturday, the deliver driver and his son brought their puppies with them to make the delivery stops, often walking them at public parks along the way.

The sheriff's office added that numerous children approached asking to pet them, but no evidence was found of children being coerced, lured or forced into the vehicle.

Detectives said they verified the packages being delivered along with the driver's employment and deliver route and concluded that the incident is not criminal.
