Grand opening of Wawa in Englewood: Free coffee, shirts to first 100 guests

The new Wawa, located off Spring Park Road, is set to open its doors at 8 a.m. Thursday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Free coffee, limited-edition T-shirts, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony - the community is invited to count down the minutes until the newest Wawa location has its grand opening Thursday morning in Englewood.

The new Wawa, located at 3561 Spring Park Road in Jacksonville, is set to open its doors at 8 a.m. Thursday, but guests are asked to arrive by 7:45 a.m. for a countdown until doors open.

Once doors open, customers will be invited inside for a free cup of coffee, along with a community toast and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Wawa's mascot, Wally Goose, will also be in attendance.

That's not all - the first 100 customers in the new store will get a limited-edition shirt while supplies last. But if you aren't one of the lucky 100 to get a free shirt, Wawa is offering every customer free coffee until December 10.

Wawa is also planning to celebrate local first responders from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and JSO Explorers with a hoagie-building competition from Hoagies for Heroes. The competition is to see who can build the most hoagies in three minutes. The competition will conclude with Wawa presenting checks for $1,000 to a charity of choice from each department.

The new Wawa location marks the 56th to open in the chain's operation area, which includes six states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, and Washington D.C.

Attendees can RSVP for the event here.
