JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A water main break caused a "cave-in" on Jacksonville's Northside Thursday, prompting road closures as JEA crews responded.
It happened on Leonid Road at Biscayne Boulevard.
A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office vehicle was stuck in the hole caused by the break, but was removed.
"When I seen it, I was like 'Oh my God,'" Tykeia Haywood told First Coast News.
Haywood saw a picture of the JSO car on Facebook and drove to the intersection to see it with her own eyes.
JEA spokesperson Karen McAllister said a few neighboring homes, a 192-unit apartment complex and five businesses wre without water.
The cause of the water main break was from a broken pipe that split joint to joint, according to JEA.
McAllister said crews "worked through the night" into Friday as the water main was repaired and service was restored in early morning hours; Leonid Road fully opened at 6 a.m.
