JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Loved ones will hold a vigil on Wednesday for a 16-year-old boy who was shot and killed in at an apartment complex in Northwest Jacksonville.
The vigil for Adrian Gainer, who died Tuesday at the Hilltop Village Apartments, will be held at a park behind the apartment complex at 6:30 p.m., according to activist group MAD DADS.
Gainer was found dead with a gunshot wound in the parking of the complex at 1646 W. 45th St. around 2:56 p.m. after reports of gunshots.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Duval County Schools police both initially responded to the shooting, as the apartment complex is near St. Clair Evans Academy.
The deadly shooting is still under investigation and JSO has not released any information about a suspect.
The shooting came just two days after the Northside Coalition of Jacksonville called for a week-long ceasefire of all violence in Jacksonville.
It was the first shooting since the call for the ceasefire.
