ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A controversial new neighborhood in St. Augustine is being pulled by the developer.
The project, which was expected to create 640 homes from Wildwood Drive to Watson Road in St. Augustine, will no longer be built.
Neighbors had previously expressed concerns that the two roads could not handle traffic associated with that many homes.
Currently, the land is timberland and undeveloped.
Some people were concerned about the impacts on wildlife. One neighbor said to First Coast News: This is full of deer. Where are the animals going to go?"
There is a need for more homes priced for the middle class in St. Augustine, and 30% of the homes in this neighborhood were set to be sold at $260,000. A new project will hopefully replace this proposal.
