JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Update: The United Cajun Navy asked for more assistance in the search on Tuesday to include any volunteers or associates in the Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Dixie Sword and/or the Chatham vicinity as well as are calling on any vessels and aircraft. The organization believes that the vessel may have drifted 50-60 nautical miles southeast of Nantucket on Tuesday during daytime hours, presumably bearing northeast, according to their Facebook post.
The search for three missing Camden County fisherman is continuing north.
The United Cajun Navy, a civilian organization specializing in search and rescues is now helping the families of the missing fishermen.
The Cajun Navy said it plans to search off the coast of Maryland and is looking to hire help in the area.
Dalton Conway, Caleb Wilkinson, and Tyler Barlow have not been seen since they set sail from Brunswick on Oct. 14.
“If what we think would have happened to a disabled vessel happened and that’s probably the direction in which they drifted so we’re trying to reach out to our network we’re trying to raise funds because it’s going to cost $6,000-$10,000 a day to keep these airplanes in the air," United Cajun Navy spokesperson, Brian Trascher, said.
Trascher said the Cajun Navy has hired a plane that will fly from Waycross, Georgia to Maryland to help search for the missing fishermen.
