ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Two dogs were revived and other animals are dead after a St. Augustine home caught fire Wednesday, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
According to a SJCFR Facebook post, crews responded to the house fire located in the 2000 block of Powell Road. When crews arrived, SJCFR says flames were noticeable from the front of the home, as "an aggressive interior fire attack and primary search for victims" followed.
"The fire was quickly extinguished by the first due engine company while remaining units conducted a search of the residence," the post states.
During the search for victims, "numerous" animals were found and removed by crews, SJCFR says. Specialized pet oxygen masks were used to treat the animals, according to the fire department. The two dogs were then taken to St. Johns County Animal Control for further treatment, while SJCFR says the other animals pulled from the fire unfortunately died.
There were no other injuries reported, according to the post, as the cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
