WAYCROSS, Ga. — A Waycross woman 9 months pregnant had a tree fall on her house during Hurricane Helene, landing on what was going to be the family's nursery.
Helene was a Category 1 hurricane when it passed through Waycross, Georgia early Friday morning.
"We just heard a loud crack and we just got our stuff and got out of there," Ciara Smith told First Coast News.
When she saw what had happened, she was in disbelief. The tree had snapped and fallen on her child-to-be's nursery.
Thankfully, Smith and her unborn child are safe, but she told First Coast News she will never ride out a hurricane again.
