CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- Three teens were arrested for allegedly vandalizing a school in Clay County.
Oak Leaf Junior High was the latest school found vandalized in an area that had been hit by a series of school destruction over the last month.
Deputies with the Clay County Sheriff's Office responded to the school Tuesday and found that two fire extinguishers had been sprayed, toilets had been intentionally clogged with toilet paper and profane words and had been drawn on the walls, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office. Cages containing animals were also opened on the school's campus. Goats and chickens were found roaming free on the grounds.
Witnesses allegedly saw three teenagers seen running from the school.
Deputies found, and interviewed the teens, two 14-teen-year-olds and a 13-teen-year-old, and determined they were responsible for the damage, according to an arrest report.
Two of the teens were also found to be responsible for a string of vandalism in the Oakleaf area the week before.
Plantation Oaks Elementary was burglarized May 18. Broken windows, discharged fire extinguishers and other vandalism caused an estimated $6,000 in damage.
One week earlier on May 12, Plantation Oaks Elementary was burglarized, resulting in approximately $3,000 in damage, according to an incident report. During that same weekend, Oakleaf Junior High was vandalized somewhere between Friday, May 10 and Sunday, May 12.
All three teens were charged with burglary to a structure, grand theft of fire extinguisher and vandalism of $1000 or more.
The teens were booked and transported to the Duval Regional Juvenile Detention in Jacksonville.
