KINGSLAND, Ga. — At David L. Raines Elementary, one teacher stands out for her dedication and passion — Mrs. Aligood. For the past 20 years, she’s been shaping young minds as she teaches gifted classes for students in first through fifth grade.
But what makes Aligood's story even more special is that she’s not just a teacher here — she's an alum. She once sat in these very classrooms, and now, she’s back to inspire the next generation.
"It’s such a privilege to be back at the school where I grew up. I love working with my students every day and watching them succeed is the best part of the job."
A huge fan of Harry Potter, Aligood brings that same magic into her classroom, creating an environment where creativity and learning go hand in hand. This year, her students brought the Macy's Day Parade to life, combining holiday cheer with imaginative hands-on learning.
But it's not just the big projects that matter. For Aligood, the real joy comes from the everyday moments of discovery.
"The best part is seeing that ‘lightbulb’ moment, when they finally get it, and you can see the excitement in their eyes. That’s why I love teaching," said Aligood
In the holiday spirit, Aligood continues to inspire her students with her passion for learning and her love of teaching. It’s clear that she’s making a lasting impact on every student who walks through her classroom door.
