CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — After over 20 years in the classroom, this week’s 'Teacher of the Week' says she still finds joy in doing her job! Meet Mary Elrod, a math teacher at Oakleaf Village Elementary in Clay County.
Elrod teaches third grade and was recently voted as her school’s Teacher of the Year.
“We here in Clay County have some amazing wonderful teachers and to be picked as one of them was a real honor,” said Elrod.
Mrs. Elrod decorates her classroom in red and is Disney-themed as she says she loves how excited her students are to learn.
“They’re excitement in their eyes to learn something new or when they finally get something that they have been struggling with,” said Elrod.
With years of wisdom, Elrod has this message for other teachers:
“Just keep going," Elrod said. "It does get easier and there are hard days in any profession, any job, but just keep giving it your all and remember we are here for the children."
