JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It is Wednesday so that means it is time for our teacher of the week!
This week we are spotlighting Debra Moore at Pine Forest Elementary in Duval County. She has been teaching 22 years and is currently teaching fifth grade math.
Mrs. Moore says she has always wanted to be teacher, even when she was little. She says really watching where students grow and where they struggle is crucial to teaching.
"Setting high expectations and seeing what they need and making sure they understand, we do a lot of analysis of looking at their data and making sure they understand concepts and they are having growth," Mrs. Moore said.
Her advice to first year teachers is to be firm, fair and consistent with your expectations.
