Jayla Williams says her first year in Jacksonville classroom was a success

Jayla Williams is Teacher of the Week and her first grade students at New Berlin Elementary say they understand why.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — While some schools in Duval County continue celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, we honor our Teacher of the Week for First Coast News.

Ms. Jayla Williams is a first year, first grade teacher, and she’s doing it with ease.

“I love the fact that I get to wake up and come teach kids every day and I love molding young minds,” said Williams

Williams is Teacher of the Week and her first grade students at New Berlin Elementary say they understand why.

“Ms. Williams is kind of fun and she is the best teacher around and she is like very, very young,” she said.

Her energetic spirit can be felt in and outside the classroom and that’s why she was nominated.

“This is my first year teaching, so I didn’t think I would even be nominated for something like this so quickly, and it made me happy, I’m happy Destiny came to see me today, and we got to chat,” said Williams.

As the school year is coming to a close, Williams has this message for her very first class.

“My students know I love them and they are like my babies, I just want to say thanks for being my first group of kids,” said Williams.
