Sophia, Blanche, Rose and Dorothy are coming to town in early October for eight performances of "The Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue." The show will be at the Terry Theater in downtown Jacksonville Oct. 1-6.
It's based on the long-running TV comedy about four older women living in South Florida. None of the original actresses are involved in the stage show; in fact, no actresses at all are involved. The lead roles will all be played by men — Ryan Bernier as Dorothy, Vince Kelley as Blanche, Adam Graber as Rose and Christopher Kamm as Sophia.
The stage show is set in 2024 and sees the ladies in all sorts of 21st-century trouble. The show also doesn't pull any punches, so no one under 18 will be admitted.
Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1-3; 8 p.m. Oct. 4; 2 and 8 p.m. Oct. 5; and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6. Tickets are $55.85-$88.45 and can be purchased at fscjartistseries.org or calling (904) 357-8938 or (904) 699-2656.
