ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is seeking information after the agency says a man and his dog were attacked by five "unleashed dogs" on Ponte Vedra Beach.
Police say the incident happened on Aug. 23 around 1 p.m. on the beach near Turtle Shores.
The man and his dog were accompanied by another person when the attack occurred, according to the sheriff's office X post. The man and his dog were "severely injured" in the incident.
"SJSO would like to speak with the handler (woman) of the aggressor dogs, who left the area after the incident," the post states. "County ordinances require SJSO and/or Animal Control to investigate complaints involving aggressive animals involved in an attack."
SJSO says the five dogs include a chihuahua, American bulldog and three pitbulls.
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call sheriff's office non-emergency number at 904-824-8304 or email crimetips@sjso.org.
