St. Johns County residents asked to conserve water until Friday in response to Hurricane Milton

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Emergency Management is asking residents to conserve water until Friday due to incoming Hurricane Milton.

Officials said heavy rain and strong storm surge are putting pressure on the county's wastewater system, and conditions will likely worsen as Milton approaches.

"We need your help in the next 48 hours to protect our wastewater system and prevent sewer overflows," officials wrote on Facebook.

Residents are asked to conserve water until 5 p.m. Friday by doing the following:

  1. Avoid washing laundry
  2. Limit showers
  3. Limit flushing toilets

"Every drop you save helps keep our wastewater system healthy during this critical time," officials said.
