ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — St. Johns County will give away 12,000 free sandbags Wednesday morning into the afternoon in an effort to have residents stay prepped during hurricane season, according to a news release.
The county has recently invested in a new sandbag-making machine which allows its Public Works Road and Bridge Division to provide this service to residents, the release states.
In order to receive sandbags, a person must provide proof of residency living in the county with an ID or mailing letter.
Each sandbag weighs approximately 30 pounds and there will be a limit of 12 per car, according to the county.
The following is a list of locations where the sandbags will be given away from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.:
- Mills Field - 1805 Racetrack Rd., St. Johns, FL 32259
- Palm Valley Bridge - S. Roscoe Blvd., Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082 (Under the bridge on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway)
- North Beach Park - 3721 Coastal Hwy, Vilano Beach, FL 32084
- Solomon Calhoun Community Center - 1300 Duval St., St. Augustine, FL 32084
- St. Johns County Equestrian Center - 8200 Smith Rd., Hastings, FL 32145
- Windswept Acres Park - 210 Micklers Rd., St. Augustine, FL 32080
