Silver Alert issued for missing 73-year-old Palatka man

PALATKA, Fla. — The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has issued a Silver Alert Friday for a missing Palatka man.

James Durfee, 73, was last seen in the area of the 1400 block of Carr Street in Palatka, according to FDLE.

Officials say Durfee was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt and blue pajama pants, and that he may be in St. Johns County, traveling southbound on County Road 13.

FDLE also says Durfee may be traveling in a 2008 gray Mercury Mariner with Florida tag number: QCXR07.

James Durfee, 73, was last seen in the area of the 1400 block of Carr Street in Palatka, according to FDLE.

Durfee is 5'11" tall, weighs 180 pounds, and has gray hair and brown eyes, according to FDLE.

Anyone with information regarding Durfee's whereabouts is urged to contact FDLE or the Palatka Police Department at 386-329-0801.

According to FDLE's website, a Silver Alert is issued for a person suffering from an irreversible deterioration of intellectual faculties, as the person must be 60 years old or older or must be 18-59 years old, and "law enforcement has determined the missing person lacks the capacity to consent and that the use of dynamic message signs may be the only possible way to rescue the missing person."
