Sedan collides with cargo train in St. Johns County, fire rescue says

St. Johns County Fire Rescue says the driver of the sedan was able to get themselves out of the vehicle before first responders arrived.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A sedan collided with a cargo train in St. Johns County Friday morning, prompting an hourlong closure of Alternate County Road 210 at U.S. 1, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.

Chris Naff with the fire department told First Coast News the sedan was heavily damaged, but the driver came out uninjured; they were able to get themselves out of the vehicle before first responders arrived.

The people aboard the train were not injured in the 9 a.m. collision as well, fire rescue said.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown as the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is investigating it, according to Naff.
