JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida-Georgia weekend is nearly here and fans and alumni are gearing up for the game days early, with the opening of RV City. Dozens of trucks and trailers were set up Tuesday morning for the ultimate tailgating experience.
RV City, located on 1700 Adams Street E, opened at 8 a.m. Tuesday. After fans found their spot, it didn't take long for them to set up tents, games and grills. Some fans are here for the game, others want to tailgate.
One might say RV City is part of the college football rivalry experience. People who attend Florida-Georgia describe the experience as a family reunion.
To Brandon Ahlgren, who grew up a Gator fan, going to RV City to tailgate with friends and college rivals is something he looks forward to every year.
"You come out here and see all the Florida-Georgia fans and we're all friends," Ahlgren explained. "We all know each other. We see each other once a year, but we have such a great time all weekend long."
Florida-Georgia events this week also include a baseball game at 121 Financial Ball Park and post game concert. 90s artists including: Montell Jordan, Vanilla Ice and Young MC will be performing. Tickets are sold at $15.
Authorities suggest planning ahead before the game on Saturday. That includes showing up to parking spots five hours in advance and be in line at the gates by 2:30 p.m.
