Ribault High and Sallye B. Mathis Elementary lockdowns lifted after police activity reported

All students at the two Northwest Jacksonville schools were reported safe, DCPS said Wednesday morning.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — 11:25 a.m. UPDATE: The lockdowns have been lifted, the district said.

A pair of Northwest Jacksonville schools are on lockdown Wednesday morning after reported police activity in the area, Duval County Public Schools said.

Ribault High School and Sallye B. Mathis Elementary Schools are on a lockout due to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office police activity in the area. The district said all students and staff are safe.

The schools are located off of Moncrief Road.

The following is message DCPS shared with families earlier:

"Hello, Ribault High and Sallye B. Mathis Elementary families, this is Duval County Public Schools. All students and staff are safe. Repeating, all students and staff are safe.  However, both schools are on lockout currently due to JSO activity in the area. We will update you when the lockout is lifted."
