JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — People living near Imeson Road in the Picketville community of Jacksonville are calling for road improvements.
They say the road is filled with potholes, making it a dangerous commute on an everyday basis.
First Coast News spoke with Highland Chase residents who say they love their community but want the roads to match the new development in the area.
“We’ve had to get our tires changed and it’s like you’re hoping you won’t have an accident trying to dodge them,” said resident Linda Foster.
Foster has lived in Highland Chase for over a year and says she hopes the city makes plans for permanent improvements along Imeson Road.
“One time they patched them up a little bit but it’s like overnight, they are messed up again,” said Foster.
Just a couple streets over is Megan Young. She says not only is Imeson Road hard to look at, it’s dangerous.
“There’s no room to swerve around them and they are starting to collect a lot of water and it’s such a safety issue when you’re driving down there," Young said. "If you try to swerve, there’s a lot of traffic now."
First Coast News reached out to the city of Jacksonville for comment. The city says:
Picketville Road was recently resurfaced from Old Kings Road N to Commonwealth Avenue. The city has three resurfacing projects planned this year in the area. They are scheduled to begin within the next two to three months.
- Imeson Road (Pritchard Road to Garden Street)
- Pritchard Road (Sportmans Club Road to Jones Road)
- Picketville Road (Old Kings Road N to Robinson Road W) (Commonwealth Avenue to Robinson Road W)
As always, we encourage our citizens to contact the call center at 630-2489-CITY to report any deficiencies they may encounter including potholes.
First Coast News also reached out to city council members for comment but have not heard back.
