One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a powered parachute crashed into some pine trees on the Southside.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a powered parachute crashed into some pine trees on the Southside Monday morning.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the crash happened sometime around 8 a.m. in the 11200 block of Business Park Boulevard. Police say one patient was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be okay.

At this time, it's unclear why the contraption crashed or who was piloting the craft.

A powered parachute is a personal aircraft with a propeller-driven cart suspended from a parachute, which acts as the wing, reports easyflight.com

Powered parachutes can fly around 25 to 35 mph.
