JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Two months after closing due to the coronavirus pandemic, Jacksonville Beach’s Adventure Landing and Shipwreck Island Waterpark are set to reopen.
The popular attraction said on Monday that it will reopen with limited capacity its Adventure Island fun park Saturday and Shipwreck Island Waterpark a week later on June 6.
The announcement comes as Duval County continues to relax stay-at-home restrictions put into place weeks ago to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
With the reopenings, though, guests will notice changes, including the following, announced on the attraction’s website:
- Social distancing practices, aided by park staff and signage. Additionally, dining tables, waterpark seating and arcade games have been moved to facilitate social distancing.
- Temperature checks for all guests. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will not be permitted to enter the park.
- Hand sanitizing stations throughout the parks.
- Wearing of facemasks is encouraged.
- With the exception of lifeguards, all park employees will wear face masks and gloves, the company said. Like guests, all employees will be subjected to temperature checks.
For season pass holders, Adventure Landing is offering to extend the expiration date to June 5, 2021, or to transfer 2020 passes to 2021 without penalty or price increase. For the latter, pass holders must visit the park by June 5 to make the transfer.
Adventure Landing is at 1944 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville Beach.
