JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Southside Publix is due for an upgrade, according to permits under review by the city of Jacksonville.
Publix, via Fasttrack Permitting, applied for a $9.3 million permit for a new building at 9964 Old Baymeadows Road and $350,000 for the demolition.
A representative from Publix said they didn't have a timeline for the Deerwood Village store, but the store at 13170 Atlantic Blvd. is undergoing a rebuild and is targeted to reopen sometime in the third quarter of 2024.
The property, located near the intersection of Southside Boulevard and Baymeadows Road, sits on 5.4 acres and the building is almost 49,553 square feet, according to the Duval County Property Appraiser. The new building will comprise 48,640 square feet.
The two nearest Publix locations are 10920 Baymeadows Road and 4413 Town Center Parkway.
