The city of Jacksonville is gearing up for its last 4th of July Celebration at the Landing. Fireworks, live performances, food and family fun is all on tap. However, safety issues could be a concern for those attending the festivities.
Exposed wires, that’s horrible,” resident, Donald Ramowitz said.
First Coast News showed Ramowitz and his wife Gloria, multiple pictures of hanging wires, open electrical boxes, holes in the ground and an unlocked gate that leads into the St. John’s River.
Potential dangers at Jacksonville Landing ahead of 4th of July celebration
“The bottom line is they have a big problem with getting people here," he said. "Everyone thinks the landing is closing anyway, and on top of that if they have safety concerns why would anybody want to come.”
FCN also found an unsecured side entrance that leads right into a storage room where anybody can simply walk in and seek refuge. Inside that closet, there was a box filled with restaurant receipts and credit card information.
First Coast News reached out to the city after hours for a comment but we have not yet heard back from them.
In the meantime, if you plan on paying a visit to the iconic riverfront mall on July 4, be sure to watch your step.
