A 39-year-old man died at the hospital Friday night after he was shot in the Robinsons Addition area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police said around 7:20 p.m., they responded to the 900 block of Carrie Street after receiving reports that a person was shot.
At the scene, they found a man lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound in critical condition, according to the sheriff's office. He was taken to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
Officers have information that indicates someone fled the scene after the shooting but they do not have enough verified information to provide a description at this time, police said.
