GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — An arrest near Green Cove Springs Junior High caused the school to be locked down Thursday morning.
The Green Cove Springs Police Department arrived to a house in the 1200 block of Forbes Street to execute a search warrant around 10 a.m. Thursday. They did not have to use the warrant because the suspect, Marcus Frazier, exited the house.
GCPD, the DEA and the Clay County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation that led to warrant for Frazier's arrest.
He was arrested on charges of selling and delivering crack cocaine within 100 feet of a school.
Police said the school was only locked down because of the proximity to Frazier's home.
GCPD Chief Guzman said, "Unfortunately the suspect arrested this morning is someone I have dealt with, for the same type of activity, when I was a young police officer. I hope this latest arrest is the one that convinces this man to turn his life around. To our community, rest assured that we will not rest until anyone selling poison in the city is taken off the streets.”
