JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after a victim was shot several times after being approached by multiple men while walking in Northwest Jacksonville Friday afternoon.
JSO said the shooting happened in the 2400 block of Maynard Street at approximately 3:21 p.m.
After responding to the scene, officers found that the male victim was walking in the area when two or three unknown men approached him.
One or more of these men were armed with a firearm and began to shoot at the victim, police said.
The men then got into an older gray or cream Chevrolet Impala with dark tinted windows and fled the scene.
The victim was struck multiple times by the gunfire and was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police said they have not established a motive for the shooting. Detectives from the JSO Investigations Division are investigating the case to learn more information.
